My career in sales, particularly during the rise of ecommerce, was fast-paced and rewarding, but nothing compared to the life-changing moment of becoming a single father. That experience revealed a resilience I never knew I had, inspiring me to find a career that allowed me to be more present for my daughter.
Real estate was in my DNA yet it took a while for me to find my way back to it. An unexpected divorce forced me to reorganize my life, and I slowly but surely reconnected with a profession that felt tailor-made.
My grandmother had a real estate license in Napa in the 1960s—a time when few women were in the industry—and I admired the life she and my grandfather built. My childhood with them, in Northern California, was filled with hiking, fishing, and enjoying nature.
After high school, I knew I wanted to be an entrepreneur, so I pursued a degree in Business and Marketing at California State University, Chico. My first job after college was distributing wine, which was fitting for someone who grew up in Northern California. Then, I transitioned to working as a sales manager for Jim Beam, one of the biggest whiskey brands in the country.
Around that time, Silicon Valley was becoming the hub of innovation. My sister encouraged me to get into online business, so I took the leap and started selling fiber optics services, such as engineering and staffing, to telecom companies. It was a good move financially, and I found stability living in the Auburn area with my wife and our 2-year-old daughter, Karly.
Everything flipped when I came home one day to find out my wife had left, and I was entirely responsible for our daughter. Suddenly, I was a single dad, juggling the responsibility of raising my little girl while managing a job that required constant travel across the U.S. I was confused and panicking. I owe everything to my mom—she stepped in to help care for Karly, allowing me to manage my job and personal life during that turbulent time.
After the chaos, a new opportunity presented itself. A friend approached me with the idea of starting a fiber optics business. Given my experience, I was all in. We launched the company just as the one I previously worked for declared bankruptcy, which worked out perfectly for us. We ended up hiring 400 employees from that company the next Monday. Business took off at an incredible pace—it felt like we were riding a wave of success.
But success wasn’t without its challenges. As the company grew, tensions rose among the owners. Disagreements became more frequent, and the work environment turned toxic. I knew I couldn’t stay in that atmosphere, so I made the tough decision to walk away. I wanted something different, something that would allow me to be more present for my daughter.
That’s when my dad, who had been working as a real estate broker for years, suggested I join him. Real estate was in my blood—my grandmother had done it, and now my dad was doing it. I took his advice and got my broker’s license in 2009. I expanded the business and brought in more agents.
Around the same time, I met Carolyn, a real estate agent herself. We hit it off immediately, and we’ve been married for 12 years now! Carolyn has been an amazing partner in both life and business, becoming my number-one cheerleader. My daughter, Karly, is now an adult, and I’m so proud that I was able to raise her as a single father.
When I’m not working, I enjoy golfing and, when possible, traveling internationally. I currently spend a lot of time with my 6-year-old granddaughter. She’s a constant reminder of how grateful I am for my parents’ support when I was younger. Looking forward, I’m excited about the future of my real estate business. I’m committed to growing it and continuing to help people find their dream homes for as long as I can.
What I love most about my job is helping people. There's nothing like that moment when a client tears up after finding their dream home—it’s truly indescribable! I take pride in being a problem solver; the person my clients can rely on when things don’t go as planned. Real estate can be complex, but I’m committed to patiently guiding my clients through each step. With expertise in both residential and commercial properties, I can meet a wide variety of needs.
Empathy is central to how I approach my work. I make it a priority to meet my clients where they are in their journey, understanding their unique circumstances. As a negotiator, I always strive for win-win outcomes that benefit all parties, making every transaction as smooth as possible. Drama has no place in real estate, so I proactively address issues before they escalate into bigger problems. My goal is to go above and beyond, leaving my clients not only satisfied but also confident in their choice to trust me as their REALTOR®.
Sincerely,
